For many people, working on an excavation is the opportunity of a lifetime. It's also
one of the best ways to get hands on experience of our heritage.
EHA runs on average two excavations a year. On most of these "digs" there is an opportunity for public participation.
Volunteers can take part in excavation and artifact processing. There will be training in all aspects of the work, so no previous experience is
required – see Stratigraphy Rules OK!. It is preferable for you to work for a minimum period (for example, 5
days) to learn your skills. Minimum age 16, but no upper age limit, as long as you are fit and able.
Most excavations take place in the Sydney area, but occasionally in regional NSW.
If you wish to be placed on the email list for notification of the next excavation, simply use the form below. EHA will send you details and an
application form prior to the next excavation.
