Reverberatory furnace, Copper Smelter No. 1, Cadia, near Orange. The site was excavated in 2001 in advance of mining. Built in 1861-1862 by John Penrose Christoe, a Welsh smelterman, Copper Smelter No. 1 was only the second set of efficient reverberatory furnaces built on a mine site in NSW.
